Exploring Malaysia in SunshineRV’s Twin Cab : Chinese New Year Road Trip

This Chinese New Year, we hit the road in a SunshineRV twin cab Maxus for an unforgettable trip across Malaysia! Traveling in a fully equipped motorhome gave us the freedom to explore comfortably while enjoying breathtaking locations.

Day 1: Penang to Gopeng

We kicked off our adventure on January 28, 2025, heading to Resort Tasik Raban at Lenggong, Perak. It was too early to stop, so we checked out the area before driving to MYDIN Hypermarket at Gopeng to stock up on supplies.

For the night, we stayed at Zarania Caravan Park in Kampung Jahang, parking near the river with power access for our stove, air-conditioning, and water heater. Basic toilet and shower facilities were available, and we paid RM100 for the stay.

Day 2: Gopeng to Lanchang

After breakfast, we drove to Woodstock in Lanchang, Kampung Chempaka. The peaceful setting included a beautiful running stream. We relaxed, chatted with other travelers, and enjoyed a quiet evening before another comfortable night in the motorhome. Parking cost: RM100.

Day 3: Lanchang to Melaka

Next stop: Melaka! We visited the Explorer boat-building company (I love anything marine-related) before meeting Mike Thein to discuss a custom motorhome on a Toyota Hi-Lux.

For the night, we parked at Seafarer Restaurant, enjoying a great dinner by the water while having access to 240V power. After refilling water tanks and emptying waste tanks, we relaxed and watched a father-daughter fishing duo before calling it a night.

Day 4: Melaka & Heading Home

We explored Melaka like tourists—sightseeing, window shopping, and indulging in local food. But be warned: navigating a motorhome in Melaka’s traffic during Chinese New Year is a challenge! It took us two hours to find parking.

After a final visit to Mike, we hit the road for Penang. A stop at an R&R north of Kuala Lumpur for dinner and a quiet night’s sleep in the truck parking area made for a smooth journey. Morning breakfast was powered by our handy 2KVA Honda generator.

Final Thoughts

By lunchtime, we were back in Penang, wrapping up an incredible road trip. The motorhome experience made traveling easy, flexible, and enjoyable. Whether for a weekend getaway or a longer road trip, SunshineRV motorhomes let you explore Malaysia’s hidden gems in comfort.
